INTO THE INTANGIBLE: DOES PHYSICAL PRODUCT MATTER?

We are currently facing huge global manufacturing problems. With 8–9-month lead times on vinyl manufacture and a looming paper shortage set to affect CD manufacture, where does this leave us in terms of physical product? Can a whole release campaign be delayed just for the sake of physical products? If we don’t have physical products to sell, then what? From an environmental standpoint, what can we do to offset the industry’s carbon footprints – is digital only releases one option?
